It seems like every time I manage to add some new books to my collection, my wishlist gets multiplied by ten. Seriously, the last time I checked, my combined wishlist on Raru and Reader’s Warehouse was somewhere close to R20 000!!! And that doesn’t even scratch the surface of all the books my greedy hands want!
These are 5 books I’m dying to get my hands on:
A COURT OF MIST AND FURY BY SARAH J. MAAS
If you read my last post then you will have seen that I thoroughly enjoyed reading A Court of Thorns and Roses. I walked around the house for days just thinking about this story, and it’s killing me that I cannot talk more about it because I don’t want to spoil anything for those who haven’t read it yet. I can only imagine how good A Court of Mist and Fury is, judging by everyone’s reaction after reading it. Every single person I spoke to had nothing but good reviews of ACOMAF which is making it 10 000 times harder for me!! I NEED to get both of these books on my bookshelf as soon as possible!
THE ROSE AND THE DAGGER BY RENEE AHDIEH
Ok so I will admit that it will by easier (and cheaper) for me to get the eBook of The Rose and The Dagger, but why would I want to when the hardback is this beautiful?? I have a hardback copy of The Wrath and The Dawn on my bookshelf which I cherish and admire every time I walk by it, so it’s only right that I get the sister to complete the collection. Besides the striking cover, TWATD is another book that I loved reading this year and because of the cliff-hanger ending, I am insanely excited to get my hands on it.
THE BOOK THIEF BY MARKUS ZUSAK (10th ANNIVERSARY LIMITED EDITION)
The Book Thief is one of my all time favourite historical fiction books even though it’s been years since I last read it; which is why it surprises me that I still don’t have a copy on my shelf… When I saw this limited edition hardback on bookstagram a few months ago, I searched everywhere in South Africa for a copy but to no avail. And then about a month ago I saw my favourite online bookstores were selling them and I immediately added it to my very long and expensive wishlist. The book is retailing for close to 500 bucks, which means I have to wait a little bit longer to get myself this beautiful, beautiful hardback. I can already picture it on my bookshelf!
REBEL IN THE SANDS ALWYN HAMILTON
Lately I’ve been really into fantasy novels with strong, bold heroines; and I love that this is a growing trend in the YA genre (the feminist in me is pumping her fist in the air yelling, “It’s about damn time!!”). Now while a big part of me wants this book because of the gorgeous cover, an even bigger part of me wants it because of the heroine described in the blurb. Also, I loved the Middle Eastern influence in TWATD and Rebel in the Sands has a similar setting.
TALON BY JULIE KAGAWA
So including Talon, this will be the fourth book on the list that falls under the fantasy genre… I’m sensing a shift in my reading preferences! Being new to the fantasy fiction world, I’ve got loads of catching up to do which has been brilliant so far! I’ve delved into the world of Magic with Harry Potter, crossed over into the realm of the Fae with ACOTAR and even hopped on a satellite with a Cyborg in The Lunar Chronicles! But there’s still one world I haven’t explored yet – the world of dragons. For this reason, I am itching to get my hands on Talon so that I can read more about these mythical beasts. Also, the covers are freaking stunning!
What are some books you really, really want?
