This morning I received an email that an exciting package should be arriving sometime today, and since I’ve been feeling a tad uninspired (I blame Empire of Storms for completely ruining me, thanks a lot Sarah J. Maas!!) it was just the pick-me-up I needed!
A few weeks ago I won the Self-Discovery Book Case from The Book Case, and knew I needed to share this lovely experience with everyone else… Let’s dive right in:
AT FIRST GLANCE
When I opened the box I was very impressed with the packaging and presentation. I found a letter addressed to me, giving a summary of all the goodies the box contains, and I tell you, this little personalized touch was so special!
A HAMMOND GOWER NOTEBOOK
“My little book of brilliant ideas” is a pretty notebook, by Hammond Gower, to jot down blog post ideas or to write up short reviews when I am reading. I love that it’s small enough to fit in my handbag so I can always have it on me whenever I may need to write down spur of the moment inspiration. It is so pretty that I could even use it as a prop in my bookstagram pictures! Wait, I need to write that down :p
INSPIRATIONAL HANG & PEG CARDS
These are so cute!! The little inspirational cards can be pegged up on your wall as a bunting, using the teeny tiny pegs and string they provide in the package. It would look adorable in my instagram photographs, and it will provide some inspiration on those days where things just look a tad bleak.
BOOK MARK PATCH
“Be in love with your life…” is a fun little bookmark patch that is not only inspirational, but really cute too. It really ties in the theme nicely, and I must say it serves as a much needed reminder to enjoy life and make the most of every moment.
Not only was this box so much fun to open, and filled with many wonderful goodies, Natasha really went above and beyond to make the whole experience all the more special by adding another secret package. It was wrapped in a funky polka dot bag, and sealed with a cute stamp – I tell you, this box was all about the little details! The surprise gift I found in my box was a cute little bookish notebook and book shaped eraser! Perfect for us booklovers!
Whisper to Me by Nick Lake is a young adult, contemporary romance novel about self-discovery and strange beauty, which makes it the perfect book for the theme of this book case. I’ve been meaning to read this book for such a long time but never got around to it, so I am pretty excited to dive into it soon. Also, the cover is truly breathtaking!
ABOUT THE BOOK CASE
The Book Case is a South African based monthly subscription box for booknerds, and it was started by a fellow bookaholic – Natasha. Natasha’s shared love for reading and curating gifts for family and friends, has lead to this exciting new business adventure where she gets to share her love for literature.
The box will surprise you every month with an exciting, newly-released novel and 3-5 bookish goodies to add to your reading adventure. A theme will be announced each month, and the mystery case will become available to purchase online on their website. Natasha aims to stick to R390.00 per case, excluding delivery; and depending on the price of the newly released book.
If you’ve been gushing over the bookish subscription boxes available overseas (like me!), but would rather spend the hefty shipping costs on more books for your shelf, then this would be perfect for you. It’s also a wonderful opportunity to support local businesses and you won’t have to suffer those long waiting periods that comes with overseas shopping.

I absolutely adored the whole experience! I get now why people are always raving about those bookish subscription crates on the other side of the world – it was such a thrill not knowing what to expect once the box arrived on my doorstep. The packaging was adorable and everything was put together so nicely, tying in the theme perfectly. I really appreciated the little details too, such as the wax seal on the letter addressed to me, the little stickers on the packages, and even the way the book was wrapped separately so that you have a surprise within the surprise. I could see everything was well thought out and a lot of effort was poured into the package; and this kind of effort is always well received. I highly recommend this bookish subscription box, and I am really excited to see what Natasha has in store for us in the future!
*This box was sent to me as a prize. This is a true reflection of my experience.*
