Life is so hectic. We are all moving fast, working hard and hoping a day had more than 24 hours in it. It is exhausting! So today’s post is going to be short and sweet, to accommodate the hustle and bustle of city life, and give you 6 short books that you can fit into your busy schedule:
THE GREAT GATSBY BY F. SCOTT FITZGERALD: If you are as intimidated by classic novels as I am, then The Great Gatsby is the perfect book for you. The Great Gatsby is a story of power and greed, wealth and extravagance; and the price some would pay to have it all. There is just so much to learn from this short, timeless classic, that demands to be read.
BETWEEN SHADES OF GRAY BY RUTA SEPETYS: I wrote a review on this book a while back because it was truly one of the most devastatingly beautiful and tragic stories I ever read. Between Shades of Gray is for those who enjoy historical fiction, and for those who’ve come to know what to expect from these books. It is a short read that carries so much weight in the pages, and it will haunt you for a long, long time.
A MONSTER CALLS BY PATRICK NESS: This young adult, fantasy conjured by Patrick Ness is for anyone who has had to endure the pain of losing a loved one. A Monster Calls is a book about facing reality and the demons inside of us that we are constantly in battle with. It is a tale of strength and weakness and how the two are not always as black and white as we may choose to believe.
I AM MALALA BY MALALA YOUSAFZAI: This is one book I feel every woman should read. Malala is such a force to be reckoned with in this world of injustice and cruelty. Her story is one that inspires courage and shows that it takes one person to ignite a spark that creates an explosion of change in the lives of so many.
SHATTER ME BY TAHEREH MAFI: This isn’t exactly a short book, but it was a surprisingly quick read. The chapters are short and the plot is so fast paced, you will be done with it in no time. Shatter Me is a fantasy, dystopian book series that makes for wonderful entertainment if you’re just looking to relax a bit and get lost in another world.
So there you have it! Six books that won’t be too daunting to commit to when you have a crazy schedule, and will be so worth the time.
