A couple weeks back I received the July Tea Box from Tealyst to test out and share my thoughts. Of course, I was over the moon because I LOVE tea and I’ve been eyeing Tealyst for quite some time now. Also, it’s winter in Cape Town which means this box could not have come at a better time!
So who is Tealyst and what exactly is a Tea Box? Well, let me explain…
Tealyst Tea Box is a South African monthly subscription box filled with carefully selected, high-quality tea imported from all over the world. Whether you’re just starting out, or you’re a seasoned tea expert, this box is the perfect way to begin your tea journey. The subscription costs R269/month with free shipping all around South Africa, and you are free to cancel at any time.
This month’s box included:
- 3 Tealyst Tea Tubes filled with luxury tea blends. The flavours I received were: Winter Star Rooibos Tea, Iron Goddess Oolong Tea and Chamomile Mint Herbal Tea.
- 1 Tea Pouch filled with the Spicy Honey Bush Tea
- A roll of biodegradable tea bags
- A welcome card introducing you to Tealyst and the different teas inside
- Steeping instruction card
- A collectable tea inspired post card
- An information card for each tea blend
I was honestly blown away by the presentation of the July Tea Box they sent me! The packaging was beautiful (I adored the Tea Tubes!!) and I could immediately see that a lot of thought and effort was poured into the box – something that never goes unnoticed or unappreciated! The variety of tea blends that made up the box were each unique and luxurious, giving me a totally new tasting experience with each cup.
Apart from the packaging and attention to detail, I also really enjoyed the information cards that were added to the box. Each tea came along with its own card giving steeping instructions, ingredients, and the origin of the tea. It also gave a description of the tasting notes that should be expected from the blend. It was such fun to taste the tea, describe the notes and then read the card to see if I was correct about what the tea mix contained.
My favourite blend has got to be the Winter Star Rooibos Tea. I love Rooibos, and I love almonds and this tea was the perfect mixture of both! As soon as I brewed myself a cup I immediately thought of marzipan. So when I saw the card and the description read, “Wonderful almond, nutty flavour with sweet marzipan and Rooibos depth” I felt like I won some kind of guessing game haha!
I’m super impressed with this Tea Box by Tealyst and I cannot recommend them enough! If you love tea, or if you’d like to start trying out different tea blends then this is the perfect way to begin.
